James S. Kuo, M.D., M.B.A. Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kuo is Cordex’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. From 2003 to 2006, he served as founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BioMicro Systems, Inc., a profitable, venture-backed company commercializing a device for genetic analysis. Prior to that time, Dr. Kuo was co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Discovery Laboratories, Inc., where he raised over $22 million in initial funding and took the company public. He has held senior licensing and business development positions at Pfizer, Inc., and Myriad Genetics, Inc. Dr. Kuo has also been the Managing Director at HealthCare Ventures, LLC, and Vice President at Paramount Capital Investments, LLC. Dr. Kuo is further a founder of Monarch Labs, LLP, a private company commercializing a medical device, non-executive Chairman of the Board of DOR BioPharma, Inc., a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company, and a Board Director of Adeona Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company. Dr. Kuo simultaneously received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business.
Amir Pelleg, Ph.D. President and Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Pelleg is Cordex’s President and Chief Scientific Officer. From 1992 until 2004, Dr. Pelleg was a Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is currently an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at that institution. He is an internationally recognized expert on the physiology and pharmacology of ATP and related compounds in general, and their role in the cardiovascular system in particular. His research work has been supported by numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Pelleg has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, and edited and co-authored three textbooks in this field. He is a member of the editorial board of The American Journal of Therapeutics and acts as an ad-hoc reviewer for numerous other leading scientific journals. His inventions covered by patents and pending patent applications, constitute a significant part of Cordex’s proprietary technology platform. Dr. Pelleg holds a B.Sc. degree in Biology from Tel-Aviv University, M.S. in Bioengineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and a Ph.D. in Physiology from Louisiana State University. He was a NIH post-doctoral fellow at the University of Virginia.
Wayne Lorgus, C.P.A., M.B.A. Chief Financial Officer Mr. Lorgus is Chief Financial Officer of Cordex. He is a partner in the national firm, B2B CFO®. Mr. Lorgus served as chief financial officer of wholesaler Prestige International from 2003 to 2005, and as controller and chief accounting officer of the multinational manufacturer Andin International from 2001 to 2003. Earlier, he worked in executive-level and/or senior management positions for the online educational firm AvidLearn, Unidyne Corp., the jewelry manufacturing firm of Sandberg & Sikorski Corp., Snow Ball Foods Corp., Campbell Soup Co. and Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Lorgus is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from College of William and Mary and a M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Lorgus is a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Delaware Wing, and the wing Standardization/Evaluation officer.
Stephen Kutalek, M.D. Medical Director Dr. Kutalek is Cordex’s Medical Director. He is a Professor of Medicine and Director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology & Cardiac Pacing at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Kutalek is a member of multiple professional societies including, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology and the American Federation for Clinical Research. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Invasive Cardiac Electrophysiology and acts as an ad hoc reviewer for leading professional journals. Dr. Kutalek has authored and co-authored more than 120 papers published in peer reviewed journals as well as numerous reviews and book chapters. Dr. Kutalek has extensive experience in clinical trials and acts as a consultant for several medical device manufacturing companies. He holds a B.A. degree from the Johns Hopkins University and a M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. |
